The last stand before the mad rush

Trick or Treat tonight. The most memorable thing was both boys being terrified of a house just one street over. There was a makeshift walkthrough 'haunted house' that made both boys want to go home.

The ladies

Kari spent her birthday with the fam, in the morning, and with the friends in the evening. Yes, it was a charades and mad-gab night.

Camden, Colin, and Kari all got their new belts today. It's great to have something to distract from the fires these days.

October in California

The Santa Ana winds have begun, and so have the fires. This is the orange sky that you sometimes hear about when fires are around. This was outside our house this afternoon. So far none of the fires are in our immediate area...but the smoke is all over Southern California. The winds are supposed to continue through Tuesday

Camden wiped out on his bike today. He really had major crash. He thrashed his head, lip, elbow, and side. He was wearing his helmet but still got a bump. All this and the kid still has training wheels...

Silver Spur Awards

Colin Painting

I had the pleasure of video directing the 10th annual Silver Spur Awards tonight in Studio City. What an amazing experience to see these actors and acresses from Hollywood's Golden Age. The event honors talent and heart and raises a lot of money for charity. The acceptance speeches were most meaningful to me. Each award recipent seemed selfless, driven, and incredibly focused. They were also passionate about their piece of American history. I grew up watching the likes of The Lone Ranger, Bonanza, and Gunsmoke. I am proud that tonight, even for just one night, the good guys still won, in the end.

My Mom, and our family friend Wanda visited for a few days this week. Kari and I put on our tour guide hats and away we went. Let me tell you, don't let the white hair fool you, these ladies have more energy than our boys. It's funny, when you live in California, you have lots of visitors. : ) We had so much fun.

The New Price Is Right

Colin Painting
My Mom, and our family friend Wanda went to the "new" price is right today with Drew Carey. It was a fun experience, having grown up watching the show. It is a little different with the new host. I think Drew is really good at audience banter during commercial breaks, but he is still seeming to find his way when he is on the air with guests. My mom loved it, and will probably watch the show more often than ever now. Our episode number is 4098K. I think it will air sometime in December or January, you can click here to get the show schedule. I think Drew Carey has a really large microphone to fill, let's hope he can make it happen, so this piece of American culture can continue. I know there are thousands of larger issues in the world today, but let's face it, Plinko rules!
