Savanna Smiles

Colin Painting
Kari's sister Mandi, and her husband Aaron have restored our hope in humanity. God does indeed still create girls! Savanna Suzanne Hill was born in Indiana over the weekend. Babies are reminders of God's goodness, faithfulness, and grace.

Urban Life

Colin Painting

I shot a video today in Los Angeles, which included a stop at Skid Row. It is really tough to imagine this scene. The stench of urine is nearly unbearable. The heat is oppressive. The sidewalks are littered with trash, and other unmentionables. It's a culture of chaos, and constant change. It is really important to see the world that exists outside of our window. It keeps us grateful, and our eyes from looking inward.

The Tooth Fairy on Overtime

Colin Painting

Seriously, another tooth today. And it seems Colin has a 'tooth fairy' wish list pre-formatted in his head. As soon as I pulled the tooth, the list began to grow. Why don't I lose teeth anymore? It's probably just as well, I would make a list, and then make myself angry for being cheap.

Another VBS

The boys spent another week at vacation bible school. This time it was at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, in Thousand Oaks. They loved the 'mentos meets diet coke' explosions, and of course Camden loved climbing the trees outside. Oh, to be young again...

Nanny McColin

Colin Painting

Colin lost yet another tooth, and the trick this time, is that he actually pulled it himself. I guess he is done with the whole, Dad helping him thing, which makes me sad. Kari and I think this phase is actually pretty funny, considering that his dental work is beginning to resemble one Nanny Mcphee.

Colin art
Colin is pretty stoked about this one. His acrylic painting got some prime real estate this week. His art is displayed front and center in the church lobby. He created this during the kids worship arts team camp. This thing is cool.

Our friends the Santamaria's hosted a party for our creative arts team today. As you can see, Colin and Camden made good use of the pool. It was really nice to just chill...

It was a family thing. Kari, Colin, and Camden spent all week at the kids worship arts team camp. They worked on various art forms for the end of week celebration. The artwork above was created to reflect 'Day 3 of creation.' Colin hammed it up for his speaking part. (click below) and Camden showed that little brothers watch things very carefully! (also below)

Creating

Camden_Magic

Camden_Magic
God gives us unlimited creativity, and I am reminded of this often with the boys. Camden began assembling random things laying around the house today. He would trace these things and let his imagination take off. This shark was made after tracing a boxing glove. He also used an envelope to create a firetruck and he used his shoe to create a picture of our dog. Colin used a mug to create the Kool-Aid man. This makes me think, and I have to ask, what happens to us along the way? Why do we stop seeing the potential with what we have been given? How often do I look at my circumstances, and fail to see the possibilities? When does it become more appealing to make excuses than to make ideas?

Camden discovers the magic of the garage door remote.

Camden: "Dad, watch this ... abracadabra!"

(He's hiding the remote in his pocket)

(Garage door goes up)

Me: "Wow, buddy how did you do that?"

Camden: "I'm not telling you anything."
